Receives SBIR Phase II Grant from the National Science
Foundation
"Funding to support the adaptive
image sensor development"
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania– January 25,
2005 – Intrigue Technologies, Inc.,
a developer of adaptive imaging sensors and systems,
today announced that it has won a Phase II Small
Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grant from the
National
Science Foundation for the project entitled "Reflectance
Sensitive Image Sensor for Illumination-Invariant
Visual Perception".
The Phase II funding of approximately $500,000 over
the next 2 years will enable researchers at Intrigue
to demonstrate the first
generation adaptive image sensor. Unlike conventional
sensors, Intrigue's technology will enable individual
pixels to adjust their sensitivity depending whether
they are in shadows or are "looking" at brightly exposed
surfaces.
“With this funding in place, Intrigue is entering a 'fast
lane'
towards
addressing
challenges of vision systems in natural environments," said
Vladimir
Brajovic, President and CEO of Intrigue Technologies. “We are on a very
aggressive technology development schedule, fueled in part by our internal
excitement
and in part by the excitement and support from our partners and early customers."
